Scope Definition divides the project into discrete work scopes. Clear scopes prevent gaps and overlaps at buyout — every piece of work has an owner, and bidders price against a well-defined package.

Define scopes

1

Open Scope Definition

Go to Preconstruction → Scope Definition.
2

Add work scopes

Create a scope per trade or work package, with a description of what’s included and excluded.
3

Map to cost codes

Associate each scope with its cost codes so pricing rolls up consistently.

Troubleshooting

Two scopes overlap

Tighten the inclusions/exclusions so each piece of work belongs to exactly one scope.
